1 - Right Equipment
Having the right equipment is extremely important. If you do not have the right equipment you may find that you are going through more pain than you have to. You should always make sure that your guitar has the strings close enough to the neck so that your fingers do not pay the price.
2 - Learn About Positioning
Before you even start beginning guitar lessons it is important that you learn about positioning. You need to remember what you Mother told you about good posture. Sit up straight, have your strumming hand you just over the sound hole so that it is going to make a nice sound and then gentle cup the neck of the guitar in your other hand. This positioning will allow you to play with comfort and put out some good sound as well.
3 - Have Patience
Just as with anything else in life, there is going to be a learning curb when beginning guitar lessons. You should keep working at it and have patience. If you don't get it at first, take a day off and then come back with a fresh mind. There is no hurry. When you take your time, relax and just let it flow you will notice that your guitar playing sounds much better than if you were forcing it and being all up tight about it.
